Announcing EnrollmentVP

As we turn a calendar page on another year, I’m pleased to announce the launch of EnrollmentVP, a new service to college and university presidents, provosts, boards of trustees, and anyone connected to or concerned about enrollment. This is the companion site, where I’ll be posting about what I see and how I can help.

Sometime in the late spring or early summer of 2025, I’ll be retiring from Oregon State University, after six years in the Vice Provost’s role here, and after almost 42 years in the profession. This blog will be a companion to the business site, and will host my perspectives on enrollment topics of interest, which might include demographics, finances, ethics, operations, or the place of enrollment management in the academy, a topic I wrote about in a text book for graduate students studying higher education.

I’ve frequently said that if Enrollment Management had a god, it would be Janus, the two-faced Roman deity who presided over transitions and new beginnings. The month of January is named after him, of course, recognizing that the month is often a time when people look to both the past and the future, which makes two faces handy. It also signifies, I think, the need for EM people, and the universities where they work, to be especially aware of both internalities and externalities; my time doing this has not allowed me to render an opinion about which is more critical.

I’m excited about this, and I hope you’ll check in frequently or consider subscribing.
